Do you live in Berrien County ?  Do you know of a child in day care that is kicking, hitting, biting, or displaying other challenging behaviors?  Do you know of a child in day care who is constantly crying, withdrawn, or extremely shy?

  • If yes, the Berrien County Child Care Expulsion Prevention P.E.A.C.E. program might be for you!

What is the P.E.A.C.E. Program?

  • It is a Child Care Expulsion Prevention Program in Berrien County that provides consultation and services for parents and child care providers caring for children ages 0 – 5 who are experiencing behavioral, social, or emotional challenges that put them at risk of expulsion from child care.  We provide short-term child and family centered consultation.  We also provide programmatic consultation for day care sites. 

Who can receive services?

  • Anyone with a child age 0 – 5 who is in day care, including pre-school centers, day care centers, relative day care, and family day care.

  • Anyone who directs or works in a day care setting, including pre-school, day care, relative day care, and family day care or are a day care aid.

  • Services are FREE for all families receiving day care services in Berrien County .

What types of services are available?

  • Observation of child at child care or at home

  • Functional assessment of child’s behavior

  • Individualized plan of services

  • Parent-Provider conferences

  • Strategies to promote social-emotional competence

  • Training for child care providers and families

  • Coordination of services and linkages to community resources

  • Developmental assessments

  • Support to promote the mental health of child care staff and parents
